Dr. Doug Bielmeier

Dr. Doug Bielmeier is a music production educator, researcher, composer, and audio engineer whose work bridges contemporary studio practice, evidence-based pedagogy, and emerging technologies in music production. He has taught music production, recording, and audio engineering courses at multiple institutions, including Northeastern University, and has developed curricula focused on experiential learning, project-based instruction, and authentic studio workflows.

 

Bielmeier’s research and writing focus on music production education, curriculum design, assessment, and the integration of artificial intelligence into creative practice. He is the author of the forthcoming book Teaching Music Production: An Evidence-Based Approach, which examines instructional design, studio pedagogy, assessment systems, and industry-aligned learning environments for contemporary audio education. His scholarly work has been presented at conferences, including the Audio Engineering Society (AES) and includes peer-reviewed publications on music production pedagogy and technical skill development.

 

As an engineer and creative practitioner, Bielmeier has worked across studio recording, live sound, electronic music, and experimental media. His creative work has been released on New Focus Recordings, Ravello Records, and Albany Records. His interdisciplinary collaborations combine electronic music production, immersive audio, live performance systems, and multimedia design.

 

Bielmeier has designed and managed recording studios, production labs, and immersive audio facilities, which emphasize equitable access, technical fluency, and sustainable studio operations. His current work explores the role of AI-assisted workflows, remote collaboration, and hybrid creative systems in contemporary music production education.
